Angelika Ortlepp is a professional engineer with a B.E. in Engineering Physics, a B.A. in geography and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. She has written numerous technical documents, manuals, brochures and web content for the University of Saskatchewan, where she worked as a lab instructor for the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics and taught classes on oral and written communications for the College of Engineering.

In 2003, she designed her own passive solar home as an off-grid wind and solar powered living lab. It was built with the help of her family and completed in 2004. In 2007, the performance of the home became the thesis topic for her Masters degree. Her enthusiasm for solar energy and the interest generated by her experimental home convinced her to start a solar energy company, Suncatcher Solar Ltd. It’s a family business that she operates with her husband and son. She has written most of the web content, media releases and owner manuals, given numerous talks and developed informational workshops on solar energy for the general public.
